Worthington Memory http://www.worthingtonmemory.org Contributor: Worthington Libraries (Leadership Worthington) -------------------------------------------------------------------- [Front cover] 1994 ALUMNI DIRECTORY FEATURING THE 1993 AND 1994 GRADUATING CLASSES OF LEADERSHIP WORTHINGTON "People Make the Difference" Leadership Worthington 1994 Alumni Directory Leadership Worthington's Mission Leadership Worthington seeks to identify individuals from all sectors of the community and inspire in them an appreciation of our past, our present and our potential. Its mission is to expand the horizons of today's leaders and to provide opportunity and training for tomorrow's leaders. Only by fully developing our human resources can we expect the community to grow and prosper for the benefit of all.. Leadership Worthington's Program Goals * Identify and motivate present and potential Worthington-area leaders. * Help participants understand and develop leadership styles and skills. * Guide participants to examine the implications of leadership. * Offer processes and options for dealing with organizational needs. * Facilitate networking among present and potential Worthington-area leaders. * Challenge potential leadership for community involvement. * Provide awareness of the history and culture of Worthington. * Broaden participants' knowledge of issues facing the Worthington area now and in the future. * Help participants become acquainted with resources in the Worthing- ton area. * Foster insight into the interdependent relationships Worthington has with the greater Columbus area. 2 Leadership Worthington 1994 Alumni Directory Leadership Worthington: "Appreciating Our Past, Our Present, Our Potential" Leadership Worthington was launched in Fall 1989 as a cooperative venture of Worthington Schools/Business/Community Partnership Council and the Worthing- ton Area Chamber of Commerce. Following the successful examples of community leadership academies in Atlanta, Georgia, and other cities, its founders sought to foster leadership and development through a program uniquely tailored to the Worthington area. A charter board of 30 trustees, representing the diverse businesses and interests of the Worthington area, established goals and guidelines, a seminar curriculum, candidate selection criteria, and the program mission which appears on the facing page. Today the board of trustees includes graduates of Leadership Worthington's four graduating classes-a complement of leaders who aspire to preserved Worthington's rich heritage and build proud new traditions. One such tradition is Service Day, an annual event in which Leadership Worthington trustees and alumni join hands with adult and student volunteers to help senior citizens, families and individuals in our community with a variety of chores and improvement projects. Service Day is one of 23 projects spearheaded by Leadership Worthington participants as part of a nine-month curriculum of training and development that includes studies and practice in: * Self-assessment * Worthington, past and present * Leadership styles * Municipal structure and issues * Team building * Education in Worthington * Cultural diversity * Human resources and services * Interpersonal communication Leadership Worthington's third and fourth graduating [Photograph] classes are pictured within this directory. Many of these emerging community leaders-and the 45 program alumni from 1991 and 1992-already are well established as volunteers, mentors and officers of community organization. As Leadership Worthington's slogan suggests, these are the People who Make the Difference. If your organization needs enthusiastic, experienced leaders, contact an alumnus of Leadership Worthington.
