Worthington Columbus Lewis (b. 1859, d. 1950) is pictured ca. 1890. He served as the Mayor of Worthington from 1902 to 1905, also served on the Worthington Village Council, as the president of the Water Board, and as Justice of the Peace. He was a trustee and Sunday School Superintendent for Worthington Methodist Church. W. C. Lewis was also a member of the New England Lodge No. 4, the I.O.O.F., the Eastern Star, and the Chamber of Commerce.
Worthington C. Lewis received his education in Worthington, attending Worthington Medical College and was a graduate of Chase Normal School.
W.C. Lewis married three times, first to Minnie Lorinda Brelsford Lewis (b. 1859, d. 1895) in 1883, second to Sarah Wright Lewis (b. 1860, d. 1927) in 1897, and lastly to Iva "Ivy" Belle Davis Lewis (b. 1875, d. 1954). His parents were Elias Lewis Sr. (b.1786, d. 1884) and Eliza Paramore Lewis (b. 1820). His grandfather Jebadiah Lewis was an early Worthington pioneer, immigrating to the area from Connecticut in 1806. |
