"William ""Bill"" Hamilton, 86 of Cornelius, NC died peacefully Thursday, December 18, 2014 at his home. He was born on August 14, 1928 in Springfield, OH. Bill was the son of Amelia and Carl Knost and a 1946 Worthington High School graduate. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and played on the Upper Heyford England Air Force Base traveling basketball team. Bill was owner of Carl Knost and Son Paving Company. Bill was a member of Community of Christ where he served as an evangelist and former pastor in Ohio and Florida. He was an active participant and spectator of many sports including basketball, tennis, golf and football. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Marilyn Gabriel Hamilton of Cornelius; son, Don Hamilton(Crystal) of Davidson, NC; Brenda Czarnecki (Mark) of Algonquin, IL; grandchildren April Hamilton Stepp (Danny), Zach Hamilton, Ryan and Kristen Czarnecki and great grandchild, Wyatt Stepp. Bill will be remembered by all as a loving and peaceful man and a friend to many. He was a wonderful husband, father and (Pops) grandfather. He also shared unconditional love with all who crossed his path. The family deeply appreciates the loving and compassionate care of the Hospice team of Lake Norman. A service to celebrate Bill's life will be Saturday, January 10th at Community of Christ, 110 Park Blvd, Worthington, OH 43085, beginning with visitation at 10 a.m. followed by the service at 11 a.m. A graveside service afterwards at Walnut Grove cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Hospice of Lake Norman, 705 Griffith Street, Suite 203, Davidson, NC 28036.
