WOLFE William Byron Wolfe "Bill", age 89, of Worthington and also Dunedin, Florida, passed away Saturday, January 29, 2011. Born in Logan, Ohio on August 10, 1921. After attending Logan High School, Bill joined the army and served as a Second Lieutenant in North Africa and the Italian Campaigns during World War II. Bill attended Ohio University and was an active member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity. Graduating with a degree in Fine Arts, Bill started using his skills at woodworking. This led to employment in the Tool industry and eventually helped him start a prestigious Sales agency, Whitman & Wolfe, Inc., with whom he stayed for decades. Bill's favorites things were Golf and Big Band Music. Not only did Bill enjoy listening to the Big Bands, he learned to play drums at a very young age and would "sit in" on drums whenever he saw the opportunity. Bill loved Golf and could be seen driving around his late home of Dunedin, Florida in his own customized Golf Cart. In Dunedin, he was a member of the Owls Golfing Group at Dunedin Country Club. He was also a loyal member of the Rotary Club, Dunedin Chapter. Bill became an avid fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes and enjoyed following his "Bucks" in both Football and basketball. Bill was preceded in death by his wife Elizabeth R. Wolfe, who passed in 2000. He is survived by his daughter, Elizabeth L. Wolfe of Pickerington, OH; son, Byron Wolfe and his wife, Carla of Villa Hills, KY.; two granddaughters, Bethany and Alicia; and one great- grandson, Brandon. He is also survived by his devoted companion of the past 10 years, Marcia J. Weaver of Dunedin, FL. Family and friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, February 3 at RUTHERFORD-CORBIN FUNERAL HOME, 515 High St., Worthington, OH 43085, where a funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Friday, February 4, 2011.
