Scanning Historic Photographs and Documents Volunteer Position Descriptions • Preparation of Historic Photographs and Documents for Scanning • Scanning Historic Photographs and Documents • Document Transcription • OCR Verification • Past Perfect Inventory Entry • Worthington News Index Worthington Memory Worthington Libraries Title: Scanning Historic Photographs and Documents Location: Old Worthington Library (820 High Street, Worthington) Immediate Supervisor: Susan Allen, Digital Library Leader, Worthington Libraries Volunteer Coordinator: Janet Ingraham Dwyer, Outreach Services & Volunteer Coordinator, Worthington Libraries RESPONSIBILITIES: Volunteers will scan photographs and documents that have been selected for inclusion in the Worthington Memory Project online scrapbook and record digitization information onto image production records. POSITION REQUIRES: an interest in local history the ability to exercise care in handling rare and fragile archival materials competency using a personal computer (Windows style software, mouse, keyboard) the ability and interest in learning to use a digital scanner and scanning software attention to detail and the ability to follow scanning guidelines the ability to work independently completion of training and orientation An individual who poses a direct threat to the health and safety of himself/herself or others in the workplace will be deemed not qualified for this position.
