Harry E. Downs, age 79, of Columbus, Friday, at residence. Retired Grinder from Timken Roller Bearing Co. Preceded in death by son, Harry Eugene. Survived by wife, Vira; daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Earl Gary, of Texas; son and daughter-in-law, John and Georgia Downs, of Columbus; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; sister, Kathryn Barbee, of Columbus; brother, James "Bob" Downs of Columbus; several nieces and nephews. Funeral service Monday 12:30 p.m. Shoemaker Golden Rule Funeral Home, 2830 Cleveland Ave. at Lakeview Ave., where friends may call Saturday 7-9 p.m., Sunday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Rev. Vernon Bucher officiating. Interment Walnut Grove Cemetery.
