Background
The 1945-1946 Worthington High School basketball season was outstanding for both the Varsity and Reserve teams, under Coaches Ray Heischman (Varsity) and Dow Nelson (Reserves). Both teams followed the same schedule. The Varsity team finished the regular season with a record of 15 wins and 3 losses, sharing the county championship with Grove City, then going on to win the District Championship and placing second in the State Class B Finals. The Reserve team ended the regular season with a record of 14 wins and 4 losses, followed by an undefeated run in the Franklin County Reserve League, securing the Reserve Championship title.
