Obituary

Merle B. Patterson, age 84, of Columbus. Died Wednesday, May 22, 1991, at the Rosegate Nursing Home. He was a retired Battalion Chief for the Columbus Fire Department for 37 years. Preceded in death by wife Margaret Ethel Patterson. Survived by wife, Nellie Patterson; son and daughter-in-law, W. James and Linda Patterson of Columbus; daughter and son-in-law, Mary Nell and Dean Anderson, Delvan, Wis.; grandchildren, Jeffrey Patterson, Cheryl Cooper, Steven Patterson, Richard Anderson, Timothy Anderson, Karen Bernick; 7 great-grandchildren. Member of Linden Church of Christ, Linden Masonic Club and active in M.D.A. Association. Funeral service 10 a.m. Friday at Schoedinger Northwest Chapel, 1740 Zollinger Road, where family will receive friends Thursday 7-9 p.m. Rev. James Dempsey officiating. Interment Walnut Grove Cemetery. Family requests contributions to the Columbus Fire Department Museum, 260 N. 4th Street, Columbus, Ohio 43210 in his memory.
