Alice Through the Looking Glass Ballet
Basic details
Background
This photograph was taken at a dress rehearsal for the Worthington Civic Ballet and Youtheatre's 1996 production of "Alice though the Looking Glass", based on Lewis Carroll's classic children's book Alice in Wonderland. Kristin Jenkins played Alice, and is shown here in a scene with blue "drink me" and red "eat me" potions. Ballet company members dressed as large flowers towering over Alice provide the effect of Alice having shrunk after drinking the blue potion. Elaborate costumes were designed and hand made by director and choreographer, Barbara Burrows, which she based on the original Lewis Carroll illustrations.
