CHAPIN Jessie "Irene" Chapin, age 92, of Worthington, Ohio, passed away peacefully on November 19, 2009 at home. Irene was the last remaining original "number pleasers" switchboard operators for Worthington from 1937-1939. Irene also taught piano for many years. She is preceded in death by beloved husband of 69 years "her Bob", daughter Sue, parents Shorty and Helen Allerton who had a barbershop and confectionery in Worthington. Irene will be greatly missed by daughters, Sonie Hunsaker and Marjorie (Ron) Reed; granddaughters, Amy Chapin, Tiffany Howard, Becca Reed; grandsons, Joe (Sharlene) Hunsaker, Rob Hunsaker, Travis Reed; great-grandchildren, Chloe, Samantha, William and Zoey; brother-in-law, John Chapin; niece, Barb Sheets; nephews, Jim and Lee Chapin. Family will receive friends from 10-11 a.m. on Monday, November 23, 2009 at the RUTHERFORD-CORBIN FUNERAL HOME, 515 High St., Worthington, Ohio 43085, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Pastor and Friend, David L. Bachelor officiating. Interment at Walnut Grove Cemetery.
