SLAY Helen (Maugans) Slay, age 91, of Worthington, Oh., died Wednesday, September 24, 2003 at OSU Medical Center. For the past 2 years she has been a resident of Mayfair Retirement Village. She was born on May 30, 1912 in Ostrander, Oh. to Emma Augusta Thomas and Eldon Elmer Maugans. She was preceded in death by her husband Willard Slay, her sister Audrey Louise Maugans and her son-in-law William Quelette Jr. She is survived by her daughter, Karen Quelette; step-sons, Larry (June) Slay of Tex. and Robin (Jackie) Slay of Calif.; grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be especially missed by her grandchildren, Darren, Julie and Steve (Eisa) Quelette. Helen loved gardening especially growing geraniums. She also loved to sew and read about politics. Calling hours will be at the O.R. WOODYARD CO. CHAPEL, 2990 Bethel Rd., Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. and Wednesday from 1-2 p.m. with a celebration funeral service at 2 p.m. Dr. Eugene Folden officiating. Interment Walnut Grove Cemetery. Because of Helen's love of cats the family suggests that donations be made to Cozy Cat Boutique and Adoption, an agency that takes care of homeless cats, at 62 Village Pointe Dr., P.O. Box 283, Powell, Oh. 43065. Donations may also be made to the Central Ohio Diabetes Association, 1100 Dennison Ave., Columbus, Oh. 43201.
