Topic: Memorial Day

Worthington’s annual Memorial Day Parade, believed to be one of the largest in Ohio, was initiated by the Daughters of the American Revolution. Starting in 1919, the American Legion Leasure-Blackston Post 239 assumed hosting of the event, which starts at the post on Morning Street and ends at Walnut Grove Cemetery. Veterans from the War of 1812 through the Persian Gulf War are represented at Walnut Grove, with cemetery staff placing flags at each of the over 1,300 veterans’ graves.
