How It Was...
The Ice House
Basic details
Background
This is one in a series of articles on the history of Harding Hospital. Included in the newsletter distributed to hospital employees, the articles were written by Ellie Jones, Harding Hospital archivist. This article explores the history of the building on campus known as the "ice house." Originally used as a cooling facility packed with ice, the advent of mechanical refrigeration freed the building up for other uses. Through the years, it was used as a residence for hospital employees as well as a training facility and the site of the first campus store.
