Lewis House

Background
This building, known as the Lewis House, is located at 36 W. South St. It was constructed ca. 1834 by Elias Lewis (b.1786, d. 1884), a bricklayer by trade who also served as a lay preacher with the Worthington Methodist Church. Subsequent owners of the house were Alden Graves and wife Elizabeth. Elizabeth Graves served as the first president of the Worthington Garden Club from 1929 to 1931. This residence was the site of early garden club meetings.
