Parish Register

The first Parish Register of St. John's Episcopal Church contains the details of church life during the 19th century. Membership lists, baptisms, marriages and deaths show the ebb and flow of life in a small town, as parishioners are born, marry, move, die and are buried throughout northern Franklin County and Delaware county. Funeral records provide insights into demographic and social patterns of the time. They were also conducted for blacks and non-members. Financial records give insights into the social concerns of the congregation. Donations, given in kind as well as money, mirror economic events in the larger world.
