Tintype of Charles "Will" Brelsford and Worthington C. Lewis

This tintype shows Worthington Columbus "W.C." Lewis (b. 1859, d. 1950) and Charles Wilbur "Will" Brelsford (b. 1852, d. 1932) in 1875. Will was the son of Thomas and Laurinda Case Brelsford, from Worthington and Dublin respectively. He was born in Illinois before his parents moved back to Worthington in his early life. By the mid-1880's he began a series of moves to Kansas, back to Columbus, and eventually Los Angeles, California. W.C. Lewis, who was a lifelong Worthington resident, married Will's sister, Minnie Brelsford, in 1883.

Tintypes were popular the latter half of the 19th century. The photo process was inexpensive and the image was processed on a thin sheet of iron that was cut by tin shears.
