Village of Worthington Marker
Basic details
Background
This village marker depicts St. John's Church. The marker was dedicated August 30, 1942 with an ecumenical Evensong service at St. John's Church. Mrs. George Harding III spearheaded the drive to install the marker. It was designed and executed by Horace Fletcher, nationally known ironwork artist, of Gates Mills.
Representatives of many pioneer families were present at the ceremony, where Mrs. Harding presented the marker to the Worthington Women's Club, who then donated it to the Village. Plans were made at the time to execute three more markers at the other entrances to the village.
