Sharon Susan Black (née Castiller) passed peacefully at home in Westerville, Ohio at the age of 74 after 15 painful months of fighting everyone’s enemy, cancer. Sharon is survived by her husband, Arthur Black; daughter, Kelli Hays and son-in-law Jim Hays of Worthington, Ohio and son, AJ Black, daughter-in-law Tara Black and lastly, but #1 in her heart, grandson Nathan Black of Roswell, Georgia. She is preceded in death by her father, Heywood Castiller, and mother, Lillian Castiller; brother Leonard Castiller, brother Eddie Joe Castiller and her beloved sister Joan Ecton. Sharon was born on November 8th, 1942 in East St. Louis, Illinois. She graduated from St. Teresa’s Academy in 1960. She met Arthur in 1959, they married in 1962 and had Kelli later that year. After moving to Belleville, Illinois, Sharon focused on raising Kelli. They relocated to Columbus, Ohio in 1971 and shortly thereafter she gave birth to AJ. Sharon returned to the workforce in 1977 with Assurex Global, eventually rising to COO and retiring from that post in 2006. She is remembered for having a smile that lit up the room, never meeting a stranger and always remembering everyone’s name. In retirement, she developed an interest in studying the Bible with her friends at Grace Brethren. Sharon also loved being a grandparent, affectionately known as “Yaya.” A funeral is scheduled for this Saturday, October 7th at 10:30 AM at Rutherford Funeral Home, 515 High Street in Worthington, Ohio.
