Born April 12, 1937 to John L and W. Eileen (Hickel) Shields.
Graduated in June 1954, Columbus North High School.
Worked a few months at Lazarus in the art department downtown. Loved to swim, roller skate, draw and paint art, sang in church choirs, played piano for her own enjoyment.
Worked at the former Ohio National Bank for 4 years. Married Elton on June 9, 1957.
Member of 5th Avenue EUB Church in Grandview for 44 years. Also attended Maize Manor UMC 10 years, then attended Living Hope FMC.
Preceded in death by parents, sister Pauline Ann (Shields, Taylor) and brother-in-law Jerry Vernon, Grandmother Alta Vae (McAninch) Hickel (Carl), Mother and father in law, Grover and Helen Defenbaugh, neice Susan Taylor, sister in law, Mary Ann Defenbaugh (Ray). She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Elton Defenbaugh, sons and daughters in law, Jerry Lee (Joan) and Allan Lee (Kimberly). Grandchildren Casey (Defenbaugh) Cox, Jacob Defenbaugh (wife Eileen),Caleb Joseph Lee. Four great grandchildren, Ellianna Renee Cox, Nathanial Tremmel Cox, Quentin Josiah Cox, Zoey Ann Defenbaugh. Nieces Bonnie Smith (Nick), Deanna Marshall (Joseph), Connie Johnson, Linda VanPelt.
Many great nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the RUTHERFORD-CORBIN FUNERAL HOME, 515 High Street Worthington Ohio on Sunday, August 11, 2019 from 1:00pm to 3:00pm. A Funeral Service will be held Sunday at 3:00pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, Friends may contribute to the Columbus Humane Society, 3015 Scioto Darby Executive Ct, Hilliard, OH 43026 in Wanda’s memory.
