Eleanor R. Kennedy, 78, of Columbus, passed away on December 12, 2017. She was born on March 16, 1939 in Hernando, MS to Ben and Gertrude (Embry) Edwards. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her two sisters, Betty Naylor and Lilly Dawson; and her brother Frank Edwards.
Eleanor was valedictorian of her graduating class in Colewater, MS, and earned her Bachelor's Degree in both Accounting and Finance at Wright State University. She was a member of Phi Kappa Phi and the Golden Key National Honor Society. She worked as a Real Estate Broker, an executive at Bank One, and as a substitute teacher.
Eleanor will be deeply missed by her husband of 56 years, Luther Lee Kennedy; daughter Karen Kennedy (Tommy) Buzzo; son Edward Kennedy; grandsons Travis Buzzo and Colby and Clayton Kennedy; and brother Ben Homer Edwards.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, December 22, 2017 at 1:00pm at the SCHOEDINGER WORTHINGTON CHAPEL, 6699 North High Street with Reverend John Girard officiating. Internment will follow at Flint Cemetery.
