MATISCIK Mark Alan Matiscik passed away on November 4, 2010, following a courageous battle with cancer. Mark was born and raised in Austintown, Ohio, where he graduated from Fitch High School in 1985. He attended YSU, moved to the Columbus area, and lived in Worthington for the last 14 years. He worked for Worthington Steel. He loved the Cleveland Indians since he was a child and was a great baseball player himself. Mark was an enthusiastic Ohio State fan and loved to cheer on the Buckeyes, but watching his boys, Sean and Tommy, play soccer, lacrosse, and football was his greatest joy. He rarely missed a game. He called his daughter, Molly, his angel and treasured her dance recitals and her doting manner. He was a devoted husband who deeply loved his best friend and wife, Lori. They did everything together, and celebrated their life with great vacations every year to the beach with the family. He was a great friend, and he had a great sense of humor and was making and laughing at jokes even at his very sickest last days. He loved to work in his garden and to take care of his house. He never complained, and as everyone gathered to support him, he was still trying to take care of all of his guests. His strong will and love for his family kept him fighting this terrible disease for five-and-a-half years. He was an amazing man and this world is a lesser place without him. He was preceded in death by his mother Judith (Baughman) Matiscik. He is survived by his wife, Lori (Moyer) Matiscik; his children, Sean, Molly, and Tommy; his father, John Matiscik; his brother, Michael (Becky) Matiscik; brother, John (Shelly) Matiscik; mother-in-law, Mary Ellen Moyer; brother-in-law, David (Amy) Moyer; and sister-in-law, Jennifer (Edward) Lukacs; nephews, Josh Matiscik and David Matiscik; and nieces, Elisha Matiscik and Zoe Lukacs; and too many friends to count. Family will receive friends from 3-6 p.m. on Sunday, November 7, 2010, at the SCHOEDINGER WORTHINGTON CHAPEL, 6699 N. High St. A funeral service will be held at 12 noon on Monday at the funeral home with Pastor Gary Bryan officiating. Interment will follow at Flint Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to The Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital, 660 Ackerman Road, PO Box 183112, Columbus, Ohio 43218.
