James Michael Moran, 69, of Powell, OH, passed away on October 13, 2020 after courageously battling autoimmune interstitial lung disease. He was born in Pittsburgh, PA on December 8, 1950 to the late Michael and Jennie (Pizzuto) Moran. Jim was graduated from Gateway High School in 1968 and The University of Pittsburgh in 1976. He attended Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, where he was a Byington Fellow in the Department of Theology and received his Master of Divinity degree in 1979. He later continued his theological studies receiving the Doctor of Ministry degree from The Reformed Theological Seminary in Jackson, Ms. He was ordained by the Presbytery of Pittsburgh as a Minister of Word and Sacrament on September 16, 1979. Jim married Lynn Ann Jones on May 12,1973. He and Lynn are parents to four loving children, Heather (Jason) Loudenslager of Powell, OH; Matthew Moran of Charlotte, NC; and Christopher Moran of Columbus, OH. In addition, Jim is "Papa" to four grandchildren-Katelynn, Cooper, and Cambryn Loudenslager and Amelia Moran, all the joys of Jim's life. He also leaves one sister, MaryAnn (John) Bandi of Turtlecreek, PA. and a loving aunt, Mildred Moran and loving uncle, Edward (Dolly) Moran as well as many special cousins. He was preceded in death by many special aunts and uncles. Jim has served Presbyterian churches in Ohio, Illinois, and Pennsylvania in forty-one years of ministry. He retired from the ministry on September 30, 2020 having served the last 13 years as the Senior Pastor of the Cranberry Community United Presbyterian Church in Cranberry Township, PA. Jim was active in the Beaver-Butler Presbytery serving as chairperson of the Ministry and Vocation Committee. He also served as a member of the board of directors of Functional Literacy Mission of Haiti having traveled to Haiti on seventeen mission trips serving as a spiritual leader and worker on the medical team. In remembrance of Rev Moran's life and mission trips to Haiti, the family requests that all remembrances be given as donations to FLM Haiti to be used in the further development of the blood pressure program in the clinic ministry and mailed to 168 Meadow Ridge Ct. Powell, OH 43065. Visitation for Pastor Moran will be at the Schoedinger Funeral Home Grove City Chapel 3920 Broadway, Grove City, OH 43123 on Thursday, October 15, 2020 from 4-8 PM. GUESTS ARE RESPECTFULLY ASKED TO WEAR MASKS AT ALL TIMES IN THE BUILDING AND ONLY 25 PEOPLE WILL BE ALLOWED IN THE BUILDING AT A TIME TO ENSURE SAFETY FOR ALL IN ATTENDANCE. A graveside service will take place at 1 PM Friday, October 16, 2020 at Flint Cemetery 8187 Flint Rd. Columbus, OH 43235 with Pastor Dena Roy officiating. A celebration of Pastor Jim's life will be held 1 PM Saturday, October 17, 2020 at the Cranberry Community United Presbyterian Church at 2662 Rochester Road Cranberry Township, PA 16066.
