Elaine Pok, age 95, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on Sunday, October 10, 2021 in Charlotte, NC.
She was born September 30, 1926 in Berwyn, IL, and was a daughter of the late Emil & Eleanor Johnson. Following graduation from Morton High School, Elaine furthered her education at Morton Jr College. She held senior level administrative and support positions at TWA, Westinghouse and the Greybar company. Elaine was happily married to John Edward Pok for 65 years until his passing in 2013. She is survived by her sister Joann Johnson (John) and her children Jan (Mark) Knouff, Scott (Pam) Pok, Jack (Karen) Pok. Elaine’s youngest daughter Nancy (Dean) Knisley passed away in 2018. The family tree continues with grandchildren Andrea (Larry) Savage, AJ (Chloe) Knouff, Steffi, Margo, (Pok), Lindy (JT) Garnett, Hillary (Collin) Gabriel and Austin Knisley. She also has three great grandchildren; Wells, Wiley and Asher.
Elaine was a lifelong member of All Saints Lutheran Church in Worthington, Ohio. Over the last seven years she attended Christ Lutheran Church in Charlotte, NC. Elaine clearly understood the truth of the Gospel (John 14:6) and is now in the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Elaine’s life was exemplified by how she selflessly served others before herself. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who attended all school and sports activities, supporting and cheering at every event. She served for years on the Worthington Hills Garden Cub and cheerfully delivered Meals on Wheels. During the last seven years, as a resident of Waltonwood-Providence Independent Living in Charlotte, she volunteered in the library and started the Sunshine Committee which was the Waltonwood Compassion Ministry, delivering get well cards and flowers to ill residents. She also was an avid “Hand and Foot” card player and loved playing Mahjong and Rummikub.
A private family graveside service to celebrate Elaine’s life will be held on Friday, November 26th, 2021 at Flint Cemetery, 8187 Flint Rd., Columbus, Ohio 43235.
