Frank Eldon Sowers was born April 23, 1952 to Lawrence and Ruth (Strider) Sowers in Columbus Ohio and passed away September 19, 2022 from metastatic bladder cancer. Frank graduated from Columbus Brookhaven High School in 1971, was an Eagle Boy Scout and alumni of the All-Ohio State Fair Youth Choir and European Tour Choir. Frank remained close with his schoolmates and enjoyed coordinating annual alumni gatherings for his fellow Bearcats. He shared weekly meals with several of them who also provided meals, friendship and support to Frank and his sister during his illness. He was a lifelong OSU Buckeye fan and attended over 250 football games with his best friend and bonus brother Tom Pete Peterfish. Following his retirement from a career in the printing industry, Franks passion was traveling and experiencing the destinations history, food, music and art scenes. Many of these trips were made in his treasured 6 speed SS1 Chevy Camaro often with the convertible top down enjoying the ride. Besides his parents, Frank is preceded in death by his sister, Mary. He is survived by sister, Connie (Bob) Kotula; nieces, Sarah (Jason) Luthy, Angie Sowers, and Bethany (Bobby) Karl; grandnieces, Samantha Chitwood, Mara Luthy, and Gemma Karl; grandnephews, Theodore Luthy and Felix Karl, aunts and uncle, Evelyn Johnson, Doris Strider, Flora Toots (Jim) Davis, and Nancy Strider along with many cousins and friends. A special thank you to Brookdale Hospice of Columbus and Laurels of Norworth for their care and compassion. Friends may call at the Moreland Funeral Home, 55 E. Schrock Road, Westerville, Friday, September 30th from 6-8 p.m. where service will be held Saturday, October 1st at 10 a.m.. Interment Flint Cemetery. In lieu of flowers Frank requests donations be made to the Make-A-Wish Foundation (wish.org) and also call a friend or someone you love and take them out to lunch and share your story.
