ANDREAS Effie Mae Andreas died at Riverside Methodist Hospital on Thursday, February 14, 2008, at the age of 97. Born in Niles, Oh., she was the daughter of Homer C. Elkin and Alta Wireman Elkin. In addition to her parents, Effie was preceded in death by her sister Mildred, brother Homer and her son-in-law George E. Obrist, Jr. She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Howard F. Andreas; and her daughters, Betty Andreas and Marjorie Obrist. Effie was retired from her position as copy editor at The Worthington News where she worked for 16 1/2 years. She was a member of Maple Grove United Methodist Church and a life member of the Worthington Historical Society, where she was the editor of their news letter for many years. A funeral service will be held 1:30 p.m. Monday, February 18, 2008, in the auditorium at the Wesley Glen Retirement Center, 5155 North High Street, Columbus, Oh. 43214, with Dr. Joel Baer officiating. Family and friends are invited to gather immediately following the service in the auditorium. A private family interment will be held at Walnut Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Maple Grove United Methodist Church, 7 West Henderson Road, Columbus, Oh. 43214.
