Bauman L. Yvonne (Surtman) Bauman, age 77, of Powell, OH and Naples, FL, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday July 2, 2013. Survived by loving husband Rannells Bauman; sons, Robert (Colleen) and James (Lisa) Bauman; grandchildren, Patrick (Laura) Hickman, James Pospishil, Lily Renee, Jonathan Rannells, Joel Robert and Lena Rachelle Bauman; brother, Robert (Dolores) Surtman; nieces and nephews, Melinda, Andy and Molly; other relatives and friends. Yvonne was born May 9, 1936 to the late Elmer and Estelle Surtman of Columbus, OH. She graduated from Columbus North High School in 1953. She was a cheerleader and participated in many other school activities. She graduated from The Ohio State School of Business in 1957 and married Rannells later that year. A gifted athlete, Yvonne excelled at dance, golf, tennis and duplicate bridge. Yvonne was a fierce competitor in all her activities. Unable to admit she lost, she could only say she didn't win. As a couple, Ranny and Yvonne shared time between their homes in Ohio, Florida, and their cabin in Canada. She always said it was a complicated way to live, but she enjoyed each place and the friends there. Into her later years, she remained a North High polar bear and an Ohio State Buckeye. An avid fan of Woody Hayes, she admitted that she shared some of his controversial traits. Yvonne was a devoted follower of Jesus Christ. She was a member of Worthington Hills Country Club; Imperial Golf Club, Naples FL; and Clear Springs Golf Club, Ontario Canada. A member of Kappa Kappa Gamma at OSU, she belonged to the United States Tennis Association and American Contract Bridge League. She was an active 40-year member of Grace Polaris Church. A private burial service was held on Saturday, July 6 at Walnut Grove Cemetery. You're invited to a life celebration service on Friday, July 12, at 7 p.m. at Grace Polaris Church, 8225 Worthington-Galena Rd, Westerville, OH 43081. A gathering will follow at the church.
