He graduated high school from Western Reserve Academy and then attended and graduated from The Ohio State University College of Arts and Sciences. He spent his life as a devoted follower of Jesus Christ and attended Grace Polaris Church for most of his adult life. He spent his career as a commercial real estate agent and was an avid golfer. He was a founding member of the Worthington Hills Country Club and a season-ticket-holding OSU Buckeye football fan. He married L. Yvonne Surtman in 1957 and spent over 50 years with her until her passing in 2013. He maintained three residences: A home in Powell, Ohio, a condo in Naples, FL, and a family cottage in Powassan, Ontario, Canada. This Canadian cottage was Ran’s favorite residence as he spent summers there since his childhood. This is also where he met his late-in-life love Margaret Sommerville who he married in 2018. During Covid, Margaret was shut down in Canada and Ran spent hours on the phone with the Prime Minister’s office in order to finally get permission to go across the border to be with his wife. He has always been a man with determination.

Preceded in death by first wife Yvonne and his parents, Ran is survived by loving wife Margaret Sommerville Bauman, sons Robert (wife Colleen) and James (wife Lisa), and grandchildren Lily, Jonathan, Joel, and Lena.
