BECK Philip Armour Beck, age 84, of Upper Arlington, died Saturday, September 13, 2003 at O.S.U. Medical Center. A gentle man born in Greencastle, IN. He was a graduate of Lakewood (OH) High School and The Ohio State University, where he was a founding member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. Former counter spy in U.S. Army World War II. He was a retired agent with Nationwide Insurance Co. Member of Mountview Baptist Church and O.S.U. Golf Club. Preceded in death by parents Herman and Eloise Beck and his wife Dorothy Parker Beck, 1995. Survived by his brother, Herman Beck; step-daughters, Linda Powell (David) Desper, Worthington, OH and Rebecca Powell Cummins, Newport News, VA; step grandchildren, David Coonfare, Daniel (Pam) Coonfare, Columbus, Emily Cummins (John) Ratcliff, of Denver, CO, Carolyn Cummins, Olympia, WA and three step great grandchildren; also neighbors, golfing buddies and community friends. Funeral service will be held Tuesday, September 16, 2003 (Time to be announced) at Mountview Baptist Church, 2140 Fishinger Road, Upper Arlington. Interment Walnut Grove Cemetery.
