BERRY Gladys D. Berry, age 84, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, died peacefully on July 19, 2005 at Friendship Village of Columbus. Survived by loving husband of 54 years, Cliff; brother, Ben P. Davies of Atwood Lake; sister-in-law, Margaret Davies of New Britain, Conn.; daughter, Anne (Robert) Strait of Sugar Grove; daughter, Edna Berry (Stanley Laughlin) of Providence, Utah; grandchildren, Jonathan and Caitlin Laughlin, also of Providence. Gladys grew up in Youngstown, where she was one of the first 2 women employees in the engineering dept. of Ohio Bell. Resident of Worthington since 1964, where she was the Registrar at Worthington High School and was inducted into the W.H.S. Hall of Fame in 1984. Gladys was a member of the Worthington Women's Club and Kiwana of Northern Kiwanis, and was also a longtime volunteer at Riverside Hospital. Charter member of the Highlands Presbyterian Church. Family requests that contributions be made to the Highlands Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund for a pink dogwood tree to be planted in Gladys' memory, 6909 Smoky Row Rd., Columbus, Oh. 43235 or to the Friendship Village Health Care Scholarship Fund, 5800 Forest Hills Blvd., Columbus, Oh. 43231. Private interment at Walnut Grove Cemetery. A memorial service to celebrate Glayds' life will be held in September at Friendship Village. Arrangements by WEIR-AREND FUNERAL HOME, 268-3593.
