Audrey Elizabeth Jones Bland, 86, of Worthington, Wednesday, March 19, 2003 at Wesley Glen Health Center. Audrey was born in Washington, D.C. She spent her childhood in New York and Long Island, N.Y. She was an active member of St. John's Episcopal Church in Worthington, Ohio for over 36 years. Audrey received her Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry and Physics from Hunter College in New York City and her Master's Degree in Psychology from Temple University. Following college, she was employed as a chemist with various Federal agencies. After moving to the Worthington area, she became Director of Rehabilitation and Personnel at Goodwill Industries. Her last position before retirement was as a science teacher for 9 years in the Worthington School System. She was married to the late Dr. R. Earl Bland. Also preceding her in death were her parents Dr. and Mr. Furman (Estelle) Jones, her brother Dr. Furman Jones and Dr. Vernon Jones and her sister Evelyn Richardson. She was a member of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the American Chemical Society, the Ohio Academy of Science, the Pennsylvania Academy of Science, American Association of University Women, the Worthington Historical Society, the American Medical Association Alliance, a life member of the Women's Service Board of Grant Hospital, Project Hope and the Y.W.C.A. In addition, she was affiliated with Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Northeasterners, Inc. and Girl Friend, Inc. She leaves to mourn her many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Many lives were touched in a positive way through her devotion to her students, her caring way with friends, and her generosity to worthy causes. A memorial service will be held at St. John's Episcopal Church, 700 High Street, Worthington, Ohio on Friday, April 4, 2003 at 1 p.m. Arrangements by Rutherford-Corbin Funeral Home, 515 High Street, Worthington.
