John Bright  was born Sunday, October 1, 1843 in Falls Township, Ohio .

he died Monday, February 19, 1934.

John Bright, Civil war veteran, first Clintonville postmaster and the real estate man who laid out Clintonville and Linden, died at his home, 30 West California Ave., early Monday, at the age of 90 years. He had been engaged in the real estate business for 50 years prior to his retirement. At the time of the laying out of Clintonville he lived on High St. at Brighton Rd., which took its name from his family name. He was appointed first postmaster at Clintonville, when the branch office was at North Broadway and High Streets, in 1898. Mr. Bright, who served as a member of Co. F, 20th Regiment, O.V.I., in the Civil war , was a member of Wells Post, G.A.R., and belonged to Garden Chapel M.E. church at Flint. He is survived by his wife, 6 sons, 6 daughters, 30 grandchildren , 29 great-grandchildren, and a sister. The children living in Columbus are Joseph and Alfred Bright, Mrs. Barbara Fickel, Mrs. Cora Wagner, Mrs. Venus Rice, Mrs. Mattie Cook, Mrs. Edith Braken and Mrs. Ellen Tiggin.
