JoAnne Buchan, age 88, of Willow Brook Christian Village in Delaware went to be with her Lord on Sunday, April 2, 2017. She was born August 11, 1928 to the late Earl and Marie (Larimore) Andrus. She is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, John Hawkins Buchan Jr. DPM. In addition to her parents, JoAnne is preceded in death by sisters Dorothy Andrus, Betty Renz and brother Earl Andrus. Born in Columbus, OH she attended South High School and was the secretary for the law firm of Dunifon, Morris and Farris and the Columbus Boys Choir. Following her marriage in 1950 she was a mother of five active children: she embraced her role coordinating getting all the children to their many school activities and was the ever present room mother. During these years she volunteered for many organizations including the Columbus Literacy Council and was involved in many church activities at Overbrook Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed quilting and cross-stitch, making many intricate pieces for her children and grandchildren's special events. A vigilant chaperone on the many family trips overseas, she was consistently requiring manners, respect and appreciation for the country and people visited. Always one to support and comfort, she became a Stephen Minister and an engaging personal advocate for those in need. A gracious listener and soothing soul, she was always present in times of urgency. A neighborhood favorite, she was always welcoming a new neighbor with one of her fabulous pies. Her excellence in playing bridge was equaled by her wonderful cooking for family gatherings- her favorite event. In the last 12 years, she and her husband moved to Willow Brook Christian Village in Delaware OH where she became active at Liberty Presbyterian Church. She thought of herself as truly blessed and fortunate to have raised five children as she always brought a smile to the lives of others and enriched many lives. Her passing creates a void as she will be greatly missed by her loving husband, family and friends. Children, Jack Buchan, David (Sue) Buchan, Lori (Brown) Crouch, Mark Buchan, Jennifer (Ron) Miracle; grandchildren, Stephanie, Paul, Daniel (Maureen), Andrew, Jack, Sarah, Shelby; great grandchildren, Lily, Reed. Her family invites those who wish to celebrate her life to a memorial service at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at Liberty Presbyterian Church Chapel, 7080 Olentangy River Road, Delaware.
