Sheila Anne Buffington, 75, died as the sun was rising in Columbus, Ohio, just 37 days after the death of her husband of nearly 55 years, Thomas Buffington. She spent those days under the care of her daughter, Laura, with the support of Mt. Carmel Palliative Care and Worthington Christian Village. Sheila laid two daughters to rest long before she should have had to: Leanne and Kris (Reffett). She long ago grieved the loss of her parents, Wally and Bernadine Beavers. Her in-laws, Dorothy (Enright) Buffington and Karen (Kenny) Martin also preceded her in death. She is survived and loved by her sister Sharon (Robert) Wolfe of Burleson, TX, along with her nieces and nephews, Scott (Sarah) Wolfe, Michael (Tiffany) Wolfe, Julie (Landon) Owens, Tina (Bobby) Kountz, Jeff (Sharon) Martin, Kelly (B.J.) Low, and Casey (Katie) Martin. Sheila lost and loved a number of uncles, aunts, and cousins, and valued all of her family connections. She spent her entire life as a caregiver, of family, children, pets, and occasional strangers. She was Archie the puppy’s very favorite human. Sheila and Tom were proud to be founding members of Westerville Christian Church. Sheila’s favorite song was “You’ll Never Walk Alone” and she made sure that this song was true for the people she loved and the people she knew were hurting. Despite the great losses of her life, she always, always found a way to laugh and to make other people laugh. She found comfort and hope over and over again in knowing the world was made by a God who loved her. Since being outside was such a comfort to her, Sheila will be laid to rest at a graveside service at Walnut Grove Cemetery at 10 am on August 26, 2020. Rather than flowers, gifts may be made in Sheila’s memory to Westerville Christian Church or Worthington Christian Village.
