Barbara Lucinda Maddox Byers of Columbus, OH went home to her Heavenly Father on Feb 10, 2019. Barb was born in Kansas City, MO to loving parents Roy and Marian (Lynds) Maddox. She moved at the age of 5 to Columbus with her parents and 2 loving sisters, Madalynd (Moss) and Susan (Hutson). After graduating from North High School, she married her high school sweetheart, James (Jim) R. Byers and they were blessed with 3 beautiful children. With long time residences in Clintonville and Upper Arlington, they went about raising their family, Jim worked at North American Rockwell and was an avid golfer while Barb loved being a mom, teaching swimming, playing tennis, and riding her bike. Barb also lived a faith-filled life devoted to her Savior, Jesus Christ, and her adopted family at Christian Community Church North. They gave her unconditional love and friendship and they will always be cherished. A long lifetime later, Barbara leaves behind her adored kids, Gregory (Jim) and his companion Joan Taylor, Becky DeCoite, and Bradley and his wife Jan, of Ft. Myers, FL. Barb's special bond with her only grandchild, Lucas DeCoite and his partner Skaught Gibson of Las Vegas, NV, will never be broken, there was nothing those 2 wouldn't have done for their Granny. Barb also leaves her niece, Lyndy Ackerman, who showed such quiet love and compassion over the years. Barb also leaves numerous nieces and nephews whom she loved and had such fond memories. She now joins those who have preceded her; beloved husband Jim; parents and grandparents; beloved sisters; in-laws, Russel and Ruth Byers; brother-in-law John Moore and his wife Mary Jean; and Barb's dear childhood nanny, Mrs. Thomas Hanley of Kansas City, MO. Barb's ashes will be laid to rest with her husband in a private service with family at Walnut Grove Cemetery in Worthington. Friends will be invited to share in our memories on March 3, 2019 at 4:00PM at Christian Community Church North. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Alzheimer's Association, Hospice of Miami Valley Foundation, or to your favorite charity. A special note of thanks to the Springfield Masonic Home staff for taking good care of Barb for the past 2 years- it means more to our family than we can express.
