CALLENDINE George W. Callendine, Jr., age 83, died Sunday, February 24, 2002 at Kobacker House following a brief illness. He was born February 22, 1919 in Clarksburg, W.Va., the son of Elizabeth and George W. Callendine, Sr. George graduated from Bethany College in Bethany, W.Va. and received his doctorate in Physics at The Ohio State University. As a medical physicist, he was a charter member of the American Association of Physicists in Medicine, and a Fellow in the American College of Radiology. He coached freshman basketball for 10 years at OSU. He was an active member of Worthington United Methodist Church and was very involved in the Worthington Public School System, including helping form Partnerships for Citizenship and Character. He served on the Board for South Side Settlement and helped oversee the renovation of their camp facility in southern Ohio. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Sue; children, Lynn (Tom) Dunn of Sylvania, Oh., Kay (Tim) Stark of Bradford, Pa., Judy (Eric) Bandy of Eden Prairie, Minn. and George of Glen Ellyn, Ill. and fiance', Amy Kadlec; 6 grandchildren; 1 niece; 5 nephews. Preceded in death by his parents Elizabeth and George W. Sr. and his brother William. A Memorial Service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 27, 2002 at Worthington United Methodist Church, 600 High St., Worthington, Oh., where family will receive friends Tuesday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Private committal service will be held for the family. Arrangements by RUTHERFORD-CORBIN FUNERAL HOME, WORTHINGTON CHAPEL, 515 High St., Worthington, Oh. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to South Side Settlement Camp, 310 E. Innis Ave., Columbus, Oh. 43207.
