Nick James Cannell, age 101, of Upper Arlington, passed away into the arms of Jesus on Wednesday, February 17, 2021. He was born on August 11, 1919, in Pickerington, Ohio to the late Nicolaos Kanellos (James Cannell) and Gladys (Marie) Walton. Nick was also preceded in death by his beloved wife of 57 years, Hope Marion Cannell, son Steven Cannell and grandson Christopher Cannell. He is survived by son, Jim Cannell; daughters, Lynne Flowers, Susie Arnold, and Missi Scott; son-in-law Chet Scott; nineteen grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren. Nick served in the United States Army and fought in WWII in the 35th Infantry Division. Nick's father started the Quality Bakery and ran it successfully until Nick returned from WWII. His dad's health faltering, Nick took over the bakery and created Mountain Top Frozen Pies, pioneering the flash-frozen pie business. Nick was known for his outgoing personality, generosity, loyalty, initiative and his no-nonsense approach to life. His family gave him great joy and hosting large Christmas Eve parties as well as hosting his children's families at Disney World will be cherished memories for his family. His faith in Christ was the corner stone of his life and he shared this with many people. He enjoyed playing golf, watching sports, dancing at Valley Dale with Hope, and, of course, cooking and eating out! Nick was a member of the First Alliance Church for 46 years. I Thessalonians 4:13-14. A funeral service for Nick will be held on Wednesday, February 24, at 2 p.m., at First Alliance Church, located at 3750 W. Henderson Road, Columbus, Ohio 43220.
