CAVE Michael Cave, age 62, passed away on Monday, October 13, 2003 at Columbus Alzheimer Center after succumbing to a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's disease. Survived by wife, Rose; daughter, Carrie; brothers, Ed and Tim; son, Pat (Kristy); grandsons, Jon and Colin. The family would like to thank in-laws Peter and Rita Cybulskis, and close family friend Jean Farrell for assisting in Mike's care and moral support. He was a graduate of Worthington High School, class of '59. Retired Columbus Firefighter and EMT. Prior to Columbus Fire, Mike worked with Sharon Twp Fire Dept. He was a preceptor through Columbus State University training EMTs. In addition, he worked the State of Ohio Licensing Board for Ambulance inspections. Actively involved with the Worthington American Legion Post 239 where he served as Past Commander on the color guard and was a member the Worthington Masonic Lodge. Mike exemplified the idea of a hero. He saved many lives with his time in the medical field and with the fire dept. He mentored struggling students who are today Firefighters and EMT's for local departments. Mike volunteered endless hours helping those less fortunate by feeding the homeless and assisting the elderly. Mike commonly put the needs of others before his own, and the family would like for him to be remembered in this way. The family would like to thank the Worthington Senior Center, the Gerlach Center and the Columbus Alzheimer's Center for the great care and the memorable experiences Mike had with them. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the Columbus Alzheimer's Center, 700 Jasonway Cols 43214 so the center can continue its exemplary care and programs.
