James W. Chapin, age 78, of Lancaster, passed away Tuesday, November 5, 1996 at OSU Hospital. He was a WW II Army veteran. Member of American Legion Post #11. Lancaster Elks #570 and St. Bernadette Catholic Church. He was involved in TV and Radio broadcasts in his early years dealing with construction. He also managed various businesses in the Columbus area prior to moving to Lancaster. He is survived by daughter, Patricia, Lancaster; son James Jr. (Carol) Chapin, Brandon, Fla.; grandson Jamie, Lancaster; sister Martha Misner, Westerville; nieces & nephews; special friend, Betty Bininger, Lancaster. Preceded in death by parents, sister and brothers. Funeral Mass will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Bernadette Church, Lancaster, Oh. with Fr. Justim Reis officiating. Burial Walnut Grove Cemetery. Friends may call from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. on Thursday at Halteman-Fett & Dyer Funeral Home, Lancaster, where a vigil service will be held at 8:30 p.m.
