CHARLTON James A. Charlton, died September 23, 2006. Born July 18, 1919 in Columbus, OH. Attended Clinton Heights Elementary, Crestview Junior High, graduated from Whitefish Bay High School in WI, and attended The Ohio State University. Served 4 years as a captain in the Army Air Corps. Longtime resident of Worthington, serving as president of the Board of Education, City Council, Trustee of Walnut Grove Cemetery, and on numerous city boards and committees. Was director of operations at Plastex Company, and realtor with Jim Owens Century 21. Longtime member of York Temple Country Club and Clinton Heights Lutheran Church. Preceded in death by parents Harry and Marie Charlton, grandson Jamie Charlton, brothers Harry, Knight, and Robert. Survived by wife of 63 years, Helen Farrell Charlton; and children, Susan (Judd) Engstrom of Westerville, Michael (Deborah Byers) of Washington, DC, William (Teresa) of Worthington, and Judith (John) Heidmann of Orlando, FL; grandchildren, Scott (Debra) McCain, Jeffrey (Deborah) McCain, Andrew (Judith) McCain, Susan (Neal) Cabral, Daniel (Shari) Charlton, Jody (Peter) Dully, Rhonda and Deena Brown, Michael and Allison Heidmann, Ron (April) Engstrom, Amy (Brian) Heran, Patrick Engstrom; great grandchildren, Shelby, Hunter and Luke McCain, Katie and Gracie Cabral, Jonathan and Grayson Charlton, Ryan Brown, Casi Martinez, Regan Engstrom and Parker Heran; sister-in-law, Maxine Charlton of Lancaster. Visiting hours Tuesday, September 26, 2006 from 1-3 and 6-8 p.m. at WEIR AREND FUNERAL HOME, 4221 North High Street, Columbus. Private interment followed by a memorial service on Wednesday, September 27, 2006 at 11 a.m., Clinton Heights Lutheran Church, 15 Clinton Heights Avenue, Columbus. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests donations be made to Heartland Hospice, 6500 Busch Blvd., Suite 210, Columbus, OH 43229, or to Rose of Concern at Lutheran Social Services, 750 East Broad Street, Columbus 43205.
