CROW Dr. Donald Boyd Crow, passed away on Sunday, December 19, 2004 at home in San Clemente following a long battle with cancer. He was born in Columbus, Oh. on April 21, 1934 and lived in Worthington, Oh. until June 1958. Then, following graduation from The Ohio State University Dental College and Navy commissioning, he married his high school sweetheart Lois Virginia Cochran and moved to San Clemente, Calif., serving for 2 years in the Navy Dental Clinic at Camp Pendleton. In 1961 Dr. Crow established a private dental practice on Del Mar Ave. and in 1978 moved into the medical-dental building on Avenida Cabrillo which he built and co-owned with 2 other doctors. He practiced there until retiring on July 1, 2003. Don is survived by his wife, Lois; son, Dr. Norman B. Crown (wife, Lisa); granddaughters, Giuliana and Anna; and daughter, Dawn, all of the southern Calif. area. He is also survived by his brother, William H. Crow (wife, Susan) of Upper Sandusky, OH.; and a niece and 2 nephews. Dr. Crow had many hobbies and interests which he pursued with skill and enthusiasm. In his youth he build and flew model planes and played the trumpet. He enjoyed hot-air ballooning, scuba diving and traveling. He obtained a private pilot's license, enjoyed amateur radio, photography and videography. He followed sports car and air racing, and for several years wrote articles for the San Clemente Sun-Post sports page following the Indy 500 and Reno air races. Dr. Crow held memberships in the South Coast Relay League, Ohio Masonic Lodge, Sigma Epsilon (college fraternity) and Psi Omega (dental honor fraternity) and South Shores Church and Choir. Don had an adventurous, humorous and generous spirit that will be greatly missed by his family and friends. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, December 23 at South Shores Baptist Church, Crown Valley Parkway in Monarch Beach. A private graveside service will be held in Worthington, Oh. following cremation. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the building fund of the South Shores Church, 32712 Crown Valley Parkway, Monarch Beach, Calif. 92629.
