Wayne M. Dornbirer, II, 82, of Baltimore, MD, loving father and grandfather, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on September 19, 2017. Born May 3, 1935 in Dayton, OH, he was preceded in death by sister Clara Owens and survived by sister Jane Hummer, his children Scott, David (Bridget), Cynthia (Craig) Tiren, Mary Beth (James) Locke, and Wayne III (Laura), their mother Susan (Swingle) Byrnes, 22 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren.

After graduating from Miami University in 1957, he served two years in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Walker. Graduating in 1963 from Trinity Lutheran Seminary, he pastored St. Nicodemus Lutheran Church in Porterville, NY and Salem Lutheran Church in Jarrettsville, MD. He retired in 1996 after 22 years as Assessing Officer with the State of Maryland. He volunteered with Meal on Wheels and Seafarers Union. He will be missed by his friends at Memorial Episcopal Church in Bolton Hill, where he was a member for more than 25 years and by the residents of Linden Park Apartments where he served on the Board and was affectionately known as “Mr. Wayne.” He loved the City of Baltimore, walking around his neighborhood and Fort McHenry, and being near and on the water whether harbor, bay, or ocean. He was an avid Orioles, Ravens, and Ohio State football fan.

A memorial service will be held at Memorial Episcopal Church, 1407 Bolton Street, Baltimore, MD on Saturday, September 30 at 1 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to The Samaritan Community at Memorial Episcopal Church. An interment ceremony will be held at Walnut Grove Cemetery in Worthington, OH at a later date.
