FIELDS Helen J. Fields, age 87, of Utica and formerly Delaware, died Friday morning, December 31, 2010 at her residence. Born October 13, 1923 in Middleport to the late Cecil A. and Frances M. (Patten) Root. Former member of the North Baptist Church and more recently a member of Grace Brethren Church, Worthington. A retired Vocal Music Teacher for Olentangy Schools. Helen loved her family and they were the world to her. Spending time at the family cabin during the summer are fond memories for her children. She treasured her time spent with family. Helen enjoyed crossword puzzles, reading Ann Coulter books, cooking, bible study with the ladies, and attending the opera and concerts with friends in Columbus. Survived by sons, Mark (Sharon) of Columbus, Thomas (Amy) of Utica; daughter, Susan Fields of Utica; four grandchildren; brother, William (June) Root of Dublin; sister, Barbara Jean (Richard) Stacy of Rochester, NY. Preceded by her husband of 63 years, Keith Fields on April 11, 2000 and they were married on May 5, 1946 in Springfield. Private graveside services for the family were held Monday in the Walnut Grove Cemetery. Contributions in memory of Helen may be made to the American Red Cross or Hospice of Central Ohio. Arrangements entrusted to the DeVORE-SNYDER FUNERAL HOME, Sunbury.

Arrangements were made by DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home (Sunbury, OH). The burial took place on Monday, January 3, 2011.
