Gardner Richard S. Gardner, age 82, born July 7, 1930, passed away at home with Hospice care on Wednesday, January 30, 2013. Preceded in death by his parents L.D. and Neva Gardner. He is survived by his wife, Helen; son, Richard C. and daughter, Diane. He is also survived by his brother, William D. (Joy) Gardner of Arlington Heights, Illinois. Richard grew up and lived his life in Clintonville until retirement in 1998. He graduated from North High School in 1948 and The Ohio State University in 1952 with a BA in Business Administration. He was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity and was awarded the Jordan Standard Outstanding Alumnus Award by the Board of Trustees of the Alpha Gamma Chapter. Following graduation he entered the United States Air Force as a 2nd Lieutenant serving as a military academic instructor with the Aviation Cadet Program at Harlingen AF Base, Harlingen Texas. He was the owner of the L.D. Insurance Agency and was devoted to serving his clients and their insurance needs. Prior to retirement he was a long time member of North Broadway United Methodist Church in Columbus, OH and after moving to Apple Valley, Mulberry Street United Methodist Church in Mt. Vernon, OH. He was a gifted artist and shared those gifts with these Churches. There will be a private interment in Walnut Grove Cemetery. A Time of Remembrance will be held Sunday, February 3, 2013 at 3 p.m. at Mulberry Street United Methodist Church, 205 N. Mulberry Street, Mt. Vernon, OH 43050 with Pastors John Hood and Warren Outhwaite officiating. Friends may call Sunday at the church from 2 p.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Heartland Hospice, 6500 Bucsh Boulevard, Suite 210, Columbus, OH 43229 or Mulberry Street United Methodist Church, 205 N. Mulberry Street, Mt.
