Grawemeyer Roberta (Bobbie) Barnes Grawemeyer passed away surrounded by loved ones on August 4, 2015. Born in Columbus, Ohio to parents Milton and Nancy Barnes on February 5, 1952, Bobbie resided in central Ohio most of her life. Bobbie collected a B.A. and M.A. in Early Childhood Education from The Ohio State University, worked as an Associate Professor of Early Childhood Education at Columbus State Community College, and served as Department Coordinator. She loved spending time with family and friends at Camp Wyandot, enjoying El Dia de los Muertos celebrations in Tucson with her children and husband, and laughing loudly over a bottle of Saldo. With her husband, Richard (Rick), she resided in Clintonville where they raised two beautiful daughters, made life-long friends, and cared for many pets, most recently her three-legged cat, Hobbles, and the well-meaning yet vapid beagle, Roxie. She is preceded in death by her parents and nephew Kevin Mathias. She is survived by her husband, Rick; daughters, Julie, Molly (Scott) Hively; sister, Connie Mathias; brother, Bill (Cris) Barnes; and niece, Jill (Greg) Price; many cousins and friends (particularly, Tim Wilkins) will certainly miss her love and vibrancy but certainly will never forget it. As Bobbie would say, "Bacaw!" Family suggests for those who wish to make a memorial gift, please direct them to Camp Wyandot, 1890 Northwest Blvd., Suit 130, Columbus, OH 43212 or on the web at campwyandot.org. This would honor Bobbie, her love of nature, and the place where her family enjoyed their time together and created decades of memories. Bobbie's Celebration of Life Service will be held at First Unitarian Universalist Church, 93 W. Weisheimer Rd., Columbus, Ohio 43214, on Sunday, August 16, 2015 at 2:30 p.m. A reception will follow the celebration where the family will gratefully receive guests.
