Jack John Groom, 82, beloved husband, passed away on February 21, 2022. Born in Barberton, Ohio, he is preceded in death by his father Frank Jacob Groom and mother Agnes Helen Groom (nee Arko). Jack established his home and career in Columbus, Ohio. He earned a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Ohio University and MS in Mechanical Engineering from The Ohio State University. A devoted husband, father and grandfather, Jack lived a fulfilled life of international travel, outdoor pursuits, and fascination for art, music, science and nature. Jack cared deeply for his wife, children, grandchildren and friends. He is survived by his devoted, loving wife of over 35 years, Margrit Ballard; his children Matthew Groom and Kristen Groom; two stepchildren; his 4 grandchildren Emily, Jacob, Connor and Sophia; six step-grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law Suzanne and Albin Muren, along with numerous relatives and lifelong friends. Special thanks to Debbie and Michael Fox, and Mandy, for Jack's wonderful care at Four Star Assisted Living. Memorial service arrangements will occur in late spring. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Jack's name to American Friends Service Committee at afsc.org
