Janis Holmberg Gruenhagen, age 71 passed on to eternal life on August 5, 2005 at Laurels of Norworth, Worthington, Ohio. Born April 24, 1934 in Duluth, Minnesota. Grew up in Duluth and graduated from Denfeld High School. Received BA in English from University of Minnesota-Duluth and an MS in Adult Education from the Ohio State University. Janis devoted her professional career to education, serving at different times in her life, children, young adults and adults. She taught Junior High School English, Adult basic education, and served as an elementary school guidance counselor. Left to mourn are sons, Timothy (Kira) of Hamilton, Ohio and Jack (Jean) of Columbus; sister Gertrude (Clarence) Kolquist of Duluth, Minnesota; grandchildren Malachi, Isabel, Lauren, Samantha, George and Benjamin; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Janis was a longtime member of Ascension Lutheran Church and the Ohio Education Association. Services will be held at Ascension Lutheran Church Saturday at 3:00 p.m. Visiting hours at Rutherford-Corbin Worthington Thursday from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to HomeReach Hospice, 3595 Olentangy River Road, Columbus, Ohio 43214; Ascension Lutheran Church, 1479 Morse Road, Columbus, Ohio 43229; or Tom Fennessy Back to School Project, 620 Oak Hollow Court, Columbus, Ohio 43228.
