Robert E. Hampton, age 82, passed away Tuesday, December 25, 2018 at Mt. Carmel West Hospital. Born September 20, 1936 in Crooksville, OH to the late Clarence and Ruby Hampton. He was the owner of Westview & High Gulf Service Station and owned and operated Bob’s Auto Services in the Graceland Shopping Center. He spent many years collecting and restoring classic cars. He will also be remembered for the many family gatherings at his home away from home in Hocking Hills. He also loved traveling to many destinations around the U.S. and North America, and also was down to go to the casino anytime. Robert was also preceded in death by son, Michael Hampton; siblings, Betty, Clara, Eddie, Helen, Joey and Sonny. Survived by wife of 43 years, Catherine P. (Akina) Hampton; children, Robert E. (Jeanne) Hampton Jr., Kathryn (Dion) Gillmore, Jessica Hampton, and Kanani (Sean) Eiland; grandchildren, Bobby III, Elizabeth, Garrett, Cassandra, Sara, Logan, Kanani, Malia, and Seany; great grandchildren, Alita, Alexander, Austin, Addisson, and Brody; siblings, Charles Hampton, Ronald (Ruthea) Hampton, and Elizabeth Skinner; numerous loving nieces and nephews, including Deena (Steve), Melissa, Gina (Anees); countless friends. Friends may call Sunday, December 30, 2018 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the O.R. WOODYARD CO. SOUTH CHAPEL, 1346 S. High St. in Columbus, OH where funeral service will be Monday, December 31, 2018 at 11 a.m. Chaplain Cass Wilson officiating. Interment to follow at Walnut Grove Cemetery in Worthington, OH.
