HARTZELL Donald R. Hartzell, Sr., 77, of Mt. Sterling, died January 17, 2008, in Mt. Carmel West Hospital, Columbus. He was born April 3, 1930, in Monitor, WV. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Preceded in death by his parents Otha and Mary (Minton) Hartzell, infant sister Ruby and brother Jack. He is survived by his loving and faithful wife of 54 years, Dolores (Pennington) Hartzell; sons, Don Hartzell Jr. of Mt. Sterling, Randy (Michelle) Hartzell of Bloomingdale, Michael Hartzell of Mt. Sterling; three grandchildren, Jason, Katie and Erin; brother, Kenneth (Linda) Hartzell of Dothan, AL; sisters, Betty (Hank) Richards of S. Lebanon, OH, Jacqueline Hartzell and Patsy (David) McRoberts, both of Logan, WV; also his extended families from SDA Churches of Chillicothe and Grove City. A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. on Monday, January 21, 2008, at the PORTER FUNERAL HOME, Mt. Sterling. Family will receive friends one hour prior to time of service. Pastor Frank Steyn will officiate. A visitation will be held on Sunday, January 20, 2008, from 2-5 p.m. In keeping with the wishes of Mr. Hartzell, cremation will follow his funeral service. In lieu of flowers, it has been suggested memorial contributions may be given to the family.
