Mortimer Seymour Hiser died at his home on Marble street last Wednesday after three days illness with pneumonia. "Mort" Hiser as he has been ……[bottom of column cut off] continuously employed as janitor in the village schools. He knew personally every boy and girl who attended and has known the parents of most of them.

During the years which he cared for the school he has seen little tots start to school in the primary grades, he has seen them make their way up until they graduated. He saw them married, and in a few years saw their children entering the primary grade, and he watched them as he had done their parents.
His absolute honesty, his faithfulness and native ingeniousness made him indispensable in the schools. School board followed school board, superintendents came and went, but "Mort" Hiser remained.

When the new high school was completed, he was made janitor of that building and another took his place in the old school. Note will mount his loss more than the school children to whom he had grown to be a sort of "patron sainte" if such an expression may be used.

The deceased is survived by the widow, Mrs. Jane Michael Hiser, two sons, Albert and Raymond Hiser, four grandchildren and a brother, William Heiser of Columbus. Funeral services were held from the late residence Saturday afternoon. Rev. W. B. Hindman officiation. Funeral arrangements were in charge of S E. Corbin. Interment was made at Walnut Grove.
