Dorothy Kyre peacefully passed away on Saturday, December 12, 2020 at the age of 88. She was born to the late Harold L. and Helen L. Mills, in Bucyrus on April 30, 1932. Along with her parents, Dorothy joins her husband, Bernard A. Kyre, who passed away on April 15, 2011; her sister Thelma Davis; and brother Richard Mills. The Kyre family were devout members of the Lutheran Church. They were founding members of Living Christ Lutheran Church, where Dorothy would assist in writing the church newsletter. They went on to join St. Matthew Lutheran Church and then Ascension Lutheran Church. Dorothy was just a people person. She was an active member of The Gillie Senior Recreation Center on Morse Road. There she enjoyed spending time with friends playing bingo, taking day trips and enjoying the day-to-day activities. Three years ago, Dorothy moved to the Brookdale of Westerville, where she thrived. She enjoyed playing bingo, participating in their day to day activities, and watching fellow residents come and go. She leaves to cherish her memory, her sons Thomas Kyre and Jaymes (Jennifer) Kyre; grandchildren Jak (Morgan Thiel) Kyre and Shannon (Miles) Huston; and her great-grandchildren: Kenny, Vincent, Colt and Triton Huston. She will be deeply missed by her family. Guests are respectfully asked to wear masks and attendance will be monitored to ensure safety for everyone attending. Friends may visit on Wednesday, December 16, 2020 from 11am to 12 Noon where her Funeral Service will begin at 12PM that afternoon at SCHOEDINGER NORTH, 5554 Karl Road in Columbus. Pastor Karen Asmus-Alsnauer officiating. Interment will follow at Walnut Grove Cemetery.
